Worms have no teeth. They ingest food in cooperation with bacteria and other micro organisms. It is beneficial to blend the scraps to make them more accessible for worms. We use the blender to make a ‘shake’ out of scraps and water.
Here's how to feed your worms.
Collect kitchen scraps.
Any vegetable or fruit peeling (avoid citrus) , noodles, rice, bread, tea leaves, coffee grounds, etc. We avoid fish and meat because that might attract rats. Worms also love coffee grounds.
Make a nice heathy smoothie for your worms.
Blending speeds up the feeding process. Worms don’t have teeth, blending helps worms ingest the food. It will take a lot longer if you don’t blend it.
Feed the worms
Don’t distribute the food over the entire surface, feed in batches so that the worms can avoid potentially harmful substances. Feed the worms regularly, but be careful not to over feed them.
Make sure not to feed anything dangerous to your worms
